Three titles were brought to Germany by Martin Kaymer (in 2008, 2010 and 2011), the only golf player with three titles won in Abu Dhabi. Other important players competing in Abu Dhabi Golf Championship are Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods and Gary Player.
The 2011 and 2012 editions were held in partnership with HSBC, a local bank which has raised the prize funds, making thus Abu Dhabi Golf Championship the richest tournament in the Gulf Swing. This collaboration raised the standards in golf competitions, by increasing the facilities for players and spectators. Thus these two editions brought 6 out of the top 10 world’s gold players together to compete for the $2.7 million in front of 30,000 spectators in 2011 and a stunning 86,000 audience in 2012.
