Yas Island

Yas Island

Yas Island is a very small, manmade island off the coast of Abu Dhabi, the largest of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates. The island is a relatively new development built by the real estate holding firm Aldar Properties, which includes the Yas Marina, the Yas Marina Circuit (opened in October 2009 and the second Formula One circuit in the Arab world, hosting the Formula One Abu Dhabi Grand Prix), the brand-new, 499-room, extremely beautiful, modern, and sophisticated Yas Marina Hotel (also known as the Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi) built on the marina and on the circuit, and the Ferrari World Theme Park, a giant, one-of-a-kind indoor theme park and the first one sponsored by and centered on the Ferrari brand, among other attractions. Ever since its very recent creation and development, Yas Island has become one of the biggest hot spots for Abu Dhabi tourism and a great destination for both business and pleasure.

Yas Island Hotels and Attractions

In fact, the sheer amount of new hotels, sports and entertainment venues, restaurants, and other high-class, sophisticated attractions for both tourists and businesspeople earned Yas Island a “World’s Leading Tourism Development Project” award at the World Travel Awards in 2009, when much of the Aldar Properties development, including the Yas Marina Circuit and the Yas Marina Hotel, first opened their doors.

There are many other attractions and venues, including a Warner Bros. Theme Park, Yas Mall, a number of golf courses, hotels, resorts and beaches to suit every style and need from quiet, elegant getaways to classy conferences and business meetings to exhilarating spectator sports. Check out the “Things to Do in Yas Island” page for more details about these venues and other useful information you should keep in mind if you’re planning to visit Yas Island and Abu Dhabi.
